A native of Spokane Washington, Mary currently lives in the Spokane Valley with her husband Robert. She has two grown daughters: Melissa is married with 3 beautiful children and has a Family Counseling Degree, and Ashley is a graduate from WSU with a BA in Interior Design.  Her stepdaughter, Katie, has spent the last 9 years serving our Country in the Navy and is about to give birth to her first child while stationed in Oak Harbor, WA. Her stepson Christopher, who is also serving in the Navy, recently began training in the Navy Seals. As a mother she could not be more proud.

Mary spent the first few years of her career working as a certified nursing assistant at Riverview Convalescent Center while she pursued her nursing degree. In 1981 as a fresh graduate she began working at Deaconess Hospital where she spent 6 years on the Respiratory and Cardiovascular Unit. She then transferred to the Endoscopy Unit, where she worked for another 5 years. Mary then transferred to St Lukes Medical Center where she managed the Endoscopy Unit for a year. At that time the administrator made the decision to turn St Lukes into a Rehab Center, so Mary transferred to Valley Hospital where she worked on the Progressive Care Unit. It was during this time that Mary began to consider the Home Care Option.

Mary's best friend of many years had been struggling with Multiple Sclerosis, a debilitating disease she was diagnosed with in high school and that had left her in a wheel chair. Mary saw how fiercely her friend fought to remain independent doing as much for herself as possible and yet unable to complete some of her daily needs. As a result Mary made it her mission to provide a quality choice in home care services for her community.

In the latter part of 1993, while still at Valley Hospital, Mary began working from her home and taking requests to assist the disabled and elderly who needed some errand and housekeeping services. A good reputation spreads quickly and by August of 1994 Independent Services, Corp (ISC) had become a well established home care agency. In 1995 Mary obtained her first contracts for those who were unable to afford to pay privately for home care services, something very important to Mary’s basic philosophy in providing care.
